Newcastle Baseball Community

First, I would like to thank everybody for their patience and understanding in this unique period.

Following the COVID-19 update provided by BNSW today, the Newcastle Baseball Association will be postponing our 2020 season until at least Saturday 2nd May. The NBA Board supports this decision by BNSW and will continue to work closely with them and the relevant health authorities to determine when it is safe to resume the season.

Our priority has been and will always be the health and safety of our players, coaches, supporters, officials, canteen volunteers, scorers and groundsmen.

This postponement includes ceasing all training, club activities, team meetings, events, tournaments and competitions, effective immediately.

What does this mean for the upcoming Little League, Junior League & Senior League State Championships?

At this stage these three tournaments have only been postponed. I have been assured by BNSW CEO, Mark Marino, that they are now working to try and find an alternative solution to hold these tournaments in the future. However, all training will cease and will only recommence when we are given the all clear that it is safe to do so.

Will the upcoming Coaching Accreditation Course be completed?

BNSW are currently looking at options to complete the re-accreditation course. Keep an eye on Facebook for further information when it becomes available.

Will the upcoming Scorer’s Course be completed?

No, the scorer’s course has been cancelled. When we receive more information on when the season will begin the NBA will look at rescheduling.

At this stage this is the only information we have received. I am sure we all have many questions we would like to ask BNSW. If you have any questions / queries, please direct them to your club and they will forward them onto the NBA Secretary.

Again, thank you for your understanding and patience. Hope to see you on the field at some stage in 2020.
